Thanks to Citibank's thank-you network, we were able to acquire enough points by using our credit card to redeem them for a whole bunch of Target gift cards. Aaron and I have wanted to get the
Wii,
Nintendo newest video game system, for a while now. We waited until Target had them in stock and bought one with our gift cards. Before you all start to congratulate Aaron on getting his wife to allow him to possess a video-gaming system, just know that the
Wii has highly restricted use in our house, partly because of Aaron's crazy schedule, but also because of the TV
Nazi, and now the
Wii Nazi (
me;)). I am still pretty much anti video games but the
Wii is different because, unlike other video games, it's interactive. You actually swing the controller as a golf club, or a tennis racket or a bowling ball.
Wii sports (bowling, baseball, golf, tennis) is the only game we currently own because because it came with it, but, Guitar Hero III is out now. So Santa will be getting a letter from us this year. Not only do Aaron and I play after the kids go to bed but the kids love it as well. Destroy has gotten pretty good at bowling and tennis. Golf is still a bit of a problem for him (mostly just the putting, his drive is pretty impressive) but it's fun to play with him and just amazing to think that a kid so young can learn stuff like that. We had our friends
Carol,
Justin,
Wing and Alli over recently and played the
Wii while they were here. We learned that our living room is too small for four people to play and also that we need two more controllers!
So if you see us walking around cradling one arm, you'll know that we're sore from playing the
Wii. Yes, we really do get sore arms and shoulders.

I think we're getting the Wii this year for the older two kids' combined Christmas present and am now excited about it after reading about your experiences with it. Normally I'm not big on gaming, but since it's more interactive I think it may be a lot of fun to do as a family. I will let Owen know that since the avowed TV [and Wii Nazi] of the family approves, that I can willingly lend my own approval!
I actually played Dave and Laurie's a few months ago and that's when I decided that I liked it so much. I played with Brett and Jenny (who totally killed me in every game) and they love it too. Destroy is learning a lot of hand-eye cordination so your younger ones will love it as well. No, I do not work for Nintendo and I am not trying to sell their product in any way. I just really like it! ;)
My brother has one of those and they are pretty fun to play. I usually just end up watching the late-night marathons between my brothers trying to getting the high score in bowling! It is a work-out!
I love the Wii. Zach and I have little tournements. But, with both of us being EXTREMLY competitive it can be pretty crazy. Have fun...
Well I am offically jealous! Justin and I have wanted one forever! Although, if we got one, Justin would probably be glued to the TV (he's already a Guitar Hero junkie!) I never really thought about it helping with kids coordination... maybe Santa needs to bring us a Wii!
It's true! We heart the wii too! And we had sooo much fun at your house. Let's do it again soon. Maybe we'll have to get you the other two controllers for christmas . . . it will be a gift for you that we happen to benefit from too. am i allowed to admit that? :)
Looks like fun! Never seen it. I will have to try it out at your home. Right now Mike has the X Box that he got for his 30th birthday gift a couple of years ago. We only have a few games. Mike usually plays sports (football) on it with Brandon.
