sicky and igloos

The last few days I have been feeling a little under the weather. But, I'm better now. I got a stomach ache on saturday night that lasted until yesterday. It was the worst on monday night when I was up a good chunk of the night either puking or really wanting to. So, yesterday, tuesday, I was feeling rotten; sick and really tired from lack of sleep. I took Destroy to school, came home, put on a movie for Search and went and took nap #1 in my bed. Search watched a second movie while I took nap #2 in my bed again. Then we ate lunch, Search with his mac and cheese and me with my puke bowl. After Destroy got home from school, Search went down for a nap and I took nap #3. I slept in a bed upstairs just to mix things up. And then after Search woke up, during nap #4 on the couch, I could hear the boys making mischief. Or should I say that I heard a whole lot of silence. Never a good thing. I could hear rusting sounds of fabric and little feet running up and down the stairs. After a while Destroy comes over to the couch and announces that they have made an igloo and that I should come and see it. I trudged into my bedroom to see this igloo and this is what I find:
Almost every blanket, pillow, basket liner, sheet, etc that was visible in the house piled on the up-turned papasan chair which was serving as the base of their igloo. And why not take off all our clothes while we're at it? I insisted that they put on underwear for pictures. It was a challenge to get under all of the blanket and pillows, but they managed.

So we took some jumping pictures while the camera was out. Yes, I know Destroy is skinny and those are not tattoos or bruises on his tummy, they are stamps from school. His teachers were wondering why the heck he stamping his stomach. But it all stems from the time I used to take Destroy to Gymboree before Search was born when he was 16-17 months old. They used to give them stamps on their tummys after class was over and somehow he still remembers this.

Search figured out to assemble his fingers to make different numbers and now tells everyone that he's two and a half. We had a family clean-up party when Daddy got home.

Homespun forts [and igloos!] rock! Until I put slipcovers on them, the kids would take the cushions from the couches in the living room, stack them up, and then drape extra blankets and comforters over them for their hideouts. When I washed the slipcovers a few weeks ago, Julia saw the cushions again for a few hours and just couldn't help herself!

Sorry to hear that you've been sick, but glad to hear that you're feeling better! There's not much worse than being home alone with the kids when you feel terrible.

luckily the kids behaved like a dream... some heavenly help I'm sure. Aaron had no idea i had been sick and puking the night before and that day until he got home from work. He felt really bad and took over the housework. They sure can step up when they have to!

What creative little boys! I LOVED making forts and haunted houses when I was little. I'm sure your boys will remember the fun they had for a LONG time! I think it's funny that they had to do it without clothes on...I mean...why not? :) And, I am very glad you're feeling better. That's the pits when you feel like doo-hunk. I'm also glad the boys (Aaron included) were helpful for you. That's SO nice!

I love boys, don't you?

PS. Must you use the word "chunk" when talking about being up puking? Bad visual . . .

Glad you are feeling better! I think that my vote on Halloween candy would be "other": none, because we ate it all. (I think that potty training helped with that...but still the prego increased my intake! I know that Carl likes what he hears about UC Davis' ER program, and then there is Utah and New Mexico and I think Virginia. Any sound good?

So sorry you've been feeling sick. It's terrible when mom gets sick. It sounds like your boys had a great time. It's so cute to see the creativity of children.

Awesome! Well, not the sick part. What is it with boys and nudity- I've married into a family with five brothers, all grown I might add, and they still get a kick out of it when they get together. Streaking, speedos, jock straps? Too much info I'm sure but I think it's way funny! Emma and Vera are just starting to play together it is the coolest thing ever, I can't wait till their making up houses and princess castles. :)

Ah, the joys of having two little boys...not that I would know. That does make me want another though, just so they could build igloos and run around in their undies. :)
