We had a very
winterish day today. Don't you love how I make up words? We woke up this morning to a light cover of snow. While we waited for Daddy to wake up (he worked late) we played triceratops (more to come on that), Darth Vader (if you are Destroy) and Darth Mater (if you are Search). Destroy filled me in on his dream that he had that night where I turned ugly and ate him. When I puked him out he got stuck in my throat and tried to claw his way out but resorted to yelling loudly. When he finally got out of my throat, I had turned into my friend Nancy. I was just glad it wasn't another dream about Darth Vader.
Ok, so sorry about the tangent. I realize that that had nothing to do what-so-ever with winter.
When Daddy finally woke up we made our favorite breakfast. We have recently discovered the BEST bacon. Oscar Meyer Center Cut Bacon is where it's at. A little more pricey but well worth it. The kids go nuts for it and we usually end up fighting over the last piece. Breakfast is not complete without Dole's Pine-Orange Banana juice, scrambled eggs with cheese and whole wheat pancakes. I can no longer eat
Krusteaz pancakes (maybe just because of the name) after eating these pancakes.
1 c white flour
1 c wheat flour
2 T sugar
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
2 c buttermilk
2 eggs (or 4 egg whites)
2 T oil
The other great thing about this breakfast is that I don't have to feed the kids lunch because they are so full from breakfast!
By the time we were done eating, there was 3-4 inches of snow outside. We put on our snow clothes and headed out to make a snowman. Destroy made the head all by himself. Search just really likes to eat the snow and play with his trucks, so he didn't participate much in making Frosty. Until we brought out the eyes, mouth and buttons. Then he became interested.

Jordan, do you recognize the scarf? I think you gave it to me for Christmas when we were
roomies. Unfortunately
Frosty's ego did not allow him to wear a hat. His head was just too big. As we brainstormed what to use for the eyes, mouth and buttons (Destroy had long since taken care of the carrot nose), I went inside the house to see what I could find. I came out with forgotten Halloween candy and cookies left from playgroup. we used malt balls for the mouth and star cookies for the buttons. I thought I was pretty brilliant to use suckers for the eyes because they stuck in so well until I came out a few hours later and noticed that Frosty was crying some unhappy purple tears. So much for my brilliance. So the boys ate suckers in the snow today and chastised me for hiding their Halloween candy.

After
Search's nap we ate Beef
Stroganoff and settled down to watch The Santa Clause with homemade
snickerdoodles. And now the boys are in bed. And what could be better than that? Oh, maybe the fact that my two-year-old is potty training himself and has used the same underwear all day! Go Search!

Simon and Garfunkel. I am a Rock. Do i win? I am loving the tons of snow we are getting. Every day is magical. I know that sounds lame, but it really is when you see all thoe little flakes, floating down, ever so slowly. I remember listening to this song driving up to "hike" at Sundance. Either that or the Dixie Chicks. Go figure.
I forgot...can i have some of those homemade snickerdoodles please?
Oh yes. The only problem is that the batch only made 36 cookies and bewtween the four of us, we consumed ALL of them during the movie. Isn't that disgusting? And it was the kids who ate them all. I can't believe I let them. I'm surprised they didn't puke. So you win... uh, a big hug from me next time I see you! And maybe a Christmas card if you're lucky.
loved your post ... your snowman looks perfect! It makes me want to take my kids to the snow, but then I remember Little C is like my and can't stand his outside temp dropping below 70 degrees :)
I need you new address to send a Christmas card! Do you still have my email??
What a busy, fun day! I keep thinking we need to make a snowman one of these days. It's always dark by the time Elliott gets home from work...but, we still need to do it. And...thanks for the recipe--I always like to try new things--we'll have to make the pancakes someday soon. And...way to go Marlo on knowing the song! I'm clueless when it comes to trivia like that.
What a fun day! Your life is pretty good right now . . .
PS. I'm really glad that scarf was put to good use . . .
Sounds like a perfect day. So much fun.
Now you have to write about your Sunday day with no church! What did you do again... play Wii!
I will have to try your wheat pancakes, but that means I have to buy wheat flour and I don't remember doing that in a long time, maybe once before.
